T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan still has better pace attack than India, says Amir

T20 World Cup 2021: Pakistan still has better pace attack than India, says Amir - The Correspondent

Former Pakistan pacer quick Mohammad Amir has said that Pakistan still holds an advantage over India in the pace attack department. Amir; however, added that Indian side possesses superior spin bowlers.

Speaking on the YouTube channel ‘Uncut’, Amir said, “As far as fast bowling is concerned, Pakistan are better. Hasan Ali and Shaheen are doing well and Haris Rauf too. These are the best T20 bowlers in the death overs. From India’s point of view, Bhuvi was struggling in the IPL, so Bumrah is the only one you can say is bowling well.”

Amir also singled out Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah as the best T20 bowler in the world, saying that his comparison with young Pakistan bowler Shaheen Afridi is misplaced.

Amir said, “It would be foolish to compare Bumrah with Shaheen right now because Shaheen is young, he is learning. Bumrah has been doing good for India for quite some time and he is doing so well. He is the best T20 bowler, I think right now. Especially in the death overs.”

Afridi, Bumrah will be key

Both Afridi and Bumrah will be key to their teams when India face Pakistan in their first match of the T20 World Cup on Sunday in Dubai, but Amir believes Shaheen has a long way to be before he can match India’s pace spearhead.

“Shaheen is Pakistan’s best bowler this time. The way he has been performing in the last one and a half years. So this will be a good match-up. Bumrah bowls brilliantly with the new ball and among youngsters, Shaheen is the best when the ball is new.”

The most anticipated matchup of the World Cup will see old foes renew the decades old rivalry with the tickets for the tie sold out on the first day the tickets went on sale.
