The third wave of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc as Pakistan registers 149 deaths in the last 24 hours, highest single day tally in 2021.

According to the latest statistics released by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 6,127 new cases have been reported. Yesterday, 71,836 tests were conducted across the country.

The positivity rate in the country was recorded at 8.52 per cent.

As of April 18, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 80,599. Yesterday, 71,836 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 12,022; Punjab: 44,626; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): 7,382; Islamabad (ICT): 5,507; Balochistan: 641; Gilgit-Baltistan (GB): 390 and Azad Kashmir (AJK): 1,268.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 528 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in GB, and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 634,835 recoveries.

A total of 756,285 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 15,524; Balochistan:20,822; GB:5,176; ICT:69,556, KP:105,438; Punjab:267,572 and Sindh:272,197.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 16,243 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 7,430 casualties followed by Sindh:4,551; KP:2,867; Islamabad: 636; Balochistan: 223; GB: 103 and AJK: 433.

630 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 5,285 patients being treated across the country. A total of 11,144,367 tests have been conducted so far.
