The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) in a report stated the Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) sector reported growth of 4.81 percent during the first quarter of current fiscal year.
According to PBS data, industrial production during July-September was at 133.02 points at the LSMI Quantum Index compared to 126.92 points during the same period of last fiscal year.
The provisional QIM is being computed on the basis of the latest production data received from sources, including Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC), Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) and Provincial Bureaus of Statistics (PBoS).
PBS report stated that the LSMI production was up by 7.65 percent on year-on-year basis during the month of September 2020. The LSMI Quantum Index Number (QIM) was 138.03 points during September 2020 against 128.22 points of September 2019.
PBS report stated that September was a better month for the LSMI as it grew by 10.09 percent in September when compared to July 2020.
During September, Food and beverages, Pharmaceuticals, chemicals and non-metallic mineral products report double digit growth. However, textile sector grew by 2.75 percent and Fertilzier sector reported growth of 2.03 percent.
The LSM industries that witnessed negative growth were automobile, iron, electronics, leather products and engineering products.
