There has been an outcry of support for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Pakistani neuroscientist Dr. Aafia Siddiqui calls for public support after being assaulted in her Texas prison.

Talking to the media, the MIT graduate’s lawyer Marwa Elbially recently said that the doctor was violently attacked last month by an inmate.

According to her, an inmate smashed a coffee mug filled with scalding hot liquid into Dr. Aafia’s face.

The attack caused her to fall to the ground, and suffer severe burns around her eyes.

The mug cut her face and left a 3-inch scar near her left eye. Bruises were found on her right arm and legs as well.

She had to be taken out of the cell in a wheelchair.

The motivation behind the attack is unclear, however, the doctor’s lawyer states that this particular inmate has been harassing her for some time.

The attack left the Pakistani worried for her safety and she requested the public for support for her case once again.

“The fact that I’m not blind is a miracle from Allah,” Dr. Aafia told her lawyer.

She is currently placed in solitary confinement.

Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was an MIT graduate, who the US claims stole a gun and attempted to shoot a US soldier in Afghanistan.

Allegations of working for Al Qaeda were leveled against her, and in September 2010, a New York court sentenced Dr. Aafia to a prison sentence of 86 years.
