The total number of vaccinations in Pakistan have crossed 1 million. Chief of the National Command and Operation Centre, Asad Umar, revealed on Twitter that over 76,000 vaccinations were carried out on Monday, April 5.

A total of 2 million people have been registered for the vaccine so far, with 600,000 healthcare workers and more than 1.4 million people over the age of 50.

The NCOC chief also stated that the initial signs of high COVID-19 positivity rates were slowing on account of increased restrictions and broader lockdowns.

“However, due to momentum of last two weeks, patients on critical care and mortality will stay at high levels for some time. Please follow sop’s and be safe,” Asad Umar’s tweet read.
