KARACHI: The urea production at Agritech Limited plant has stopped due to hindrance in gas supply by Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL). The gas supply will be restored after July 5.

SNGPL has informed Agritech that gas supply will remain closed from June 29 till midnight of July 5, Agritech Limited said in a statement issued at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today. The gas supply was disturbed due to unplanned dry-docking activities at Engro Elengy Terminal Pakistan Limited (EETPL), it said.

The gas crisis in Pakistan has deepened after two state-owned companies on Monday announced the complete closure of gas supply till July 5 to industries and CNG stations following a decline in gas availability, low pressure in the system, and dry docking of an LNG terminal.

Energy Minister Hammad Azhar had told a private news channel on Sunday that the government would cover the gas shortfall for power generation by cutting supplies to the industries and CNG sector and diverting the available gas to power plants.
