Kashmiris living all over the world, including Pakistan, are celebrating Kashmir Day on Saturday (today) to express solidarity with the people living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Banners, posters, and flags have been hung on the main streets and squares of the capital city, highlighting Indian atrocities in IIOJK, sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri people, and expressions of solidarity by Pakistanis.

Conferences, seminars, and rallies have also been planned in Islamabad on the occasion. In addition, to express solidarity with the people of IIOJK, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has announced to convene a Senate session in Muzaffarabad for the first time ever.

On Friday, the issue of Kashmir was discussed by suspending the routine agenda of the House.

February 5 is the day of renewed commitment with the Kashmiri people.

In 1990, on the same day, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto formally approved the celebration of the Kashmir Solidarity Day with the Kashmiri people.

For the last 32 years, the people of Pakistan have been expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The purpose of celebrating the day is to renew the pledge that the people of Pakistan will continue to provide moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri brothers and sisters till the independence of IIOJK.

In a message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, AJK President Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry urged Kashmiris and Pakistanis living around the world to show solidarity with the people of IIOJK on February 5.

He termed it a duty to show solidarity with the people of IIOJK and expose the ugly face of India to the world.

Senior leader Sheikh Abdul Matin and representatives of Chairman Hurriyat Conference Musarat Alam Butt in Pakistan said that by celebrating the Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, the Pakistani nation sends a message to the people of IIOJK that it is very important to them.

Despite all the atrocities, India has not been able to stifle the Kashmiris’ spirit of freedom and love for Pakistan.
