On Thursday, UAE delegation lead by the Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun Bin Zayed met with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

“The two sides discussed bilateral relations and enhancing co-operation between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade fields and vital investment projects that serve the process of construction, development and progress and achieve the common interests of the two countries,” Wam the state’s news agaency reported.

Sheikh Tahnoun is the brother of UAE’s ruler. He conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The meeting marks the first time senior Emirati officials have approached Qatar in the last four years. This visit comes after a deal for reconciliation was made with Doha.

Emirati and Qatari officials later met in Kuwait in February to discuss unity, stability and economic prosperity.

In January, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt and Qatar signed the Al Ula declaration to reopen the land,sea and air corders with Qatar. The UAE is yet to co-operate with Bahrain while Riyadh and Cairo have already appointed ambassadors to Doha.
