A driver and a security guard of the National Directorate of Security were killed early on Monday morning when unidentified gunmen opened fire on the vehicle of a deputy director.
Provincial Governor Waheed Qatali said the incident happened in Sayed Mukhtar area in the north of Herat city. The deputy director of the NDS was not in the car at that time.
In the meantime, a security source said that “the armed men have driven away the vehicle along with the weapons of the guard following the attack.”
Local security officials have not yet commented over the incident.
No group, including the Taliban, has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
