Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has “reaffirmed consistent support to Afghan peace process” to his counterpart Muhammad Haneef Atmar in Dushanbe on Tuesday.

In a meeting held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Foreign Ministers conference the two ministers discussed latest situation in the Afghan peace process and way forward.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Qureshi tweeted that “Pakistan and Afghanistan’s destinies are inter-twined. We believe working together will help us realise stronger regional connectivity and greater people-centric linkages.”

Pakistan foreign minister added that “the path ahead is ultimately determined by Afghan leaders from whom flexibility is essential to achieve a negotiated settlement and any blame games are detrimental to peace process. Neither Pakistan nor Int’l community nor indeed people of Afghanistan wish for a repeat of civil war.”

Foregin Minister Qureshi said he is “looking forward to receiving Atmar in Islamabad to continue our collective efforts.”
