Punjab’s Health Minister Yasmin Rashid announced that the Punjab government will purchase 1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine following the cabinet’s approval.

In a meeting at the Civil Secretariat regarding the procurement of vaccinates, Dr Yasmin revealed that it could take six to ten months for local preparation of the vaccine to materialise, adding that a technical advisory group had been formed. This group, the health minister stated, had been established under Babar Aman, the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Special Secretary, and that it would take two days to share it recommendations.

“Local preparation of vaccine may take 6 to 10 months time,” she said, adding that several stakeholders, including the livestock department, had already been contacted for this purpose.

Pakistan’s COVID-19 death toll crossed the 15,000 mark as the country reported 5,329 new cases today.
