The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has sought applications from candidates for the Senate elections.
PPP Secretary General Farhat Ullah Baber said in a statement that the candidates must send applications till February 8. The applications must accompany a bank draft of Rs100,000. The application should be addressed to PPP Parliamentarian president.
The application must be sent to Zaradri House, Street No 19, F-8-2, Islamabad, or Bilawal House, Karachi.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan, 52 seats of the Senate will fall vacant on February 7 when the members will retire on completion of their tenure.
IMRAN KHAN: Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced his support to PML-Q candidate Kamil Ali Agha in the Senate election.
The prime minister announced his support during a meeting with the PML-Q leadership who called on him in Islamabad. Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema and Moonis Elahi were also present during the meeting.
Earlier, the premier said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had favoured holding Senate election through open ballot in Charter of Democracy.
He was presiding over a meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and spokesmen.
He said that the opposition is trying to avoid the option of holding Senate elections through open ballot.
