Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with the media team today at his residence in Bani Gala, despite testing positive for COVID-19 less than a week ago. Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, posted a tweet regarding the aforementioned meeting.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Senator, Faisal Javed Khan, also shared a tweet regarding the meeting, adding that the prime minister is “fit and fine”. “Prime Minister is doing well, fit and fine. Working from home, holding meetings following SOPs,” he said.
During the meeting, the PM said that he will “not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands” during PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s appearance at the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office in Lahore on Friday.
Matters relating to the country’s COVID-19 positivity rate were discussed along with issues pertaining to vaccination efforts and the overall political situation. Senator Shibli Faraz, Senator Faisal Javed, Zulfi Bukhari, Yusuf Baig Mirza, and Aleem Khan were part of the session at the Bani Gala residence.
Following the news, several people took to Twitter to condemn the prime minister for not following SOPs despite being COVID-19 positive.
Imran Khan tested positive for coronavirus just two days after he was administered the first dose of vaccine against the viral infection.
Dr Sultan, PM’s aide on health, said the prime minister went into self-isolation at his Bani Gala residence after testing positive for the infection. He revealed that the Prime Minister had a slight fever with cough, but his general health is stable.
The premier had shown symptoms of the virus on the same day he was administered the first dose of the vaccine. His second dose of the vaccination was still pending, confirmed a health ministry spokesperson.
