Prime Minister Imran Khan is distributing 1,500 houses and flats to working-class citizens through the government’s Naya Pakistan Housing programme today. The ceremony for the distribution takes place today, where the residences are being given through balloting.

Speaking at the occasion, the premier said that owning a home is a blessing that the common citizens of Pakistan are deprived of, given the current economic situation. For this purpose, under the Naya Pakistan Housing initiative, the government is distributing houses to lower-income families.

He added that the government is paying Rs 300,000 on each flat and house. Additionally, the interest rate on these houses will stay the same—at 5%—for the next 20 years, despite fluctuations in the country’s interest rates.

The prime minister will hand over the keys of the houses and flats to those whose names are selected through balloting.

Prime Minister Imran Khan promised to alleviate the conditions of marginalised sections of society of Pakistan, and said the country will steadily moving towards development with such welfare initiatives by the government.
