ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned a special meeting to discuss the spectrum of relations with India a day after his cabinet deferred the decision to import sugar and cotton from India.

The meeting, which will be held in the afternoon after Friday prayers, will be attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, officials from the Foreign Office, and other stakeholders.

Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari and Planning Minister Asad Umar, who opposed the trade ties with India in the federal cabinet meeting, will also participate in the meeting.

The meeting will discuss, devise and decide the spectrum of relations with India besides reviewing the trade ties with New Delhi.

It has also been decided that a subcommittee will be established to further deliberate on the Economic Coordination Committee’s (ECC) recommendations on resumption of trade with India, said sources.
