Coronavirus infections continue to decline in Pakistan with the positivity rate falling to 2.0 percent as the declining trend in the fourth wave of the coronavirus infection continued, while the single-day tally of new cases also fell below 1,000.

The nerve center of the country’s fight against the pandemic said in a tweet that some 42,476 tests were conducted across the country during the last 24 hours, out of which 689 people tested positive for the contagious disease.

The NCOC said, “The National Covid positivity ratio during past 24 hours was recorded at 1.62%,” adding that there were 2,280 Covid patients under treatment in critical condition in various Covid dedicated healthcare facilities of the country.

The NCOC said in a daily update that during the past 24 hours, COVID-19 claimed some 18 infected patients’ life including those under treatment in the hospitals and in their respective quarantines or homes.

During the last week, Pakistan administered an average of about 978,412 doses each day. At that rate, it will take a further 45 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.
