The Covax scheme announced that Pakistan, along with Nigeria and Indonesia, were to receive over 10 million doses of free COVID-19 vaccines before June.

Covax aims to ensure an equitable and fair distribution of doses and on Tuesday, delineated its objective of delivering vaccines to 142 countries by May 31, 2021.

The five largest confirmed recipients are Pakistan (14,640,000 doses), Nigeria (13,656,000), Indonesia (11,704,800), Bangladesh (10,908,000) and Brazil (9,122,400).

Around 238.2 million doses are to be distributed globally before the start of June, through programs aimed at enabling access to coronavirus vaccines in poorer nations.

COVAX is the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global initiative to “ensure rapid and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all countries, regardless of income level.” Pakistan has recorded a total of 13013 deaths so far, with a collective number of  total of 583,916 recorded cases.
