Parliamentary Secretary for National Health Services Dr Nausheen Hamid has said that Pakistan will vaccinate almost 80 million of the population against the coronavirus by the end of December.
“Our target was to vaccinate 70 million Pakistanis by the end of this year that is now increased to 80 million. With the support of people, we will soon achieve this target,” she told the state television on Sunday.
Dr Nausheen expressed satisfaction at the speed of the vaccination drive and stressed that it was important to carry this momentum forward.
She stressed that every segment of society has to play its role in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic and vowed to increase the pace of the vaccinations further.
She appealed to the public to participate in the vaccination drive as it was the only way to lift all the restrictions in the country.
Replying to a question, she said that after Islamabad and Punjab, the Sindh health department had also decided to set up several mobile vaccination centres in the city to encourage more and more people to get inoculated against COVID-19.
To another question, she said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) played a “pivotal role” in containing COVID-19. “The NCOC proved its credibility and importance by guiding the nation and made the nation proud of it,” she added.
Talking about paramedical staff training, she said that Pakistan with the collaboration of the Chinese government had conducted training for paramedical staff on vaccination drives.
