Earlier today, the official Twitter account of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that joint military exercises between Russia and Pakistan, Druzhba-V, are underway at Tarbela.

The aforementioned exercises are part of a 2 week long counter terrorism exercise program, aimed at strengthening Pakistan and Russia’s previously rocky relationship while also ameliorating military cooperation.

“Pak-Russian Federation Special Forces are participating in two weeks long counter terrorism exercise.” Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Major General Babar Iftikhar tweeted.

Russian troops arrived in Pakistan on 5 November to share their military expertise with their Pakistani counterparts, as part of the joint military program ‘DRUZHBA’ which is held annually.

According to Director General ISPR, sports are also part of the exercise along with counter terrorism drills, rappelling and preparations for sky diving.
