ISLAMABAD: There are doubts that whether Pakistan Day parade will be held this year or not, as the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) will hold a special meeting on Monday in this regard.
As there is an alarming spike in the coronavirus cases in the country, the NCOC will consider whether to cancel the event altogether or hold it with a select gathering in attendance.
Last year, the government had cancelled the Pakistan Day parade as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan had on Saturday in a brief press conference said there was an alarming increase in COVID-19 positivity ratio across the country.
Meanwhile, the NCOC reported on Sunday that 3,667 people tested positive for coronavirus during the past 24 hours and 44 died.
VACCINATION CENTRES CLOSURE: In a surprise move, the NCOC announced that coronavirus vaccination centres will remain closed on Sundays and national holidays.
An NCOC statement on Saturday announced that all vaccination centers across the country will “remain closed on Sundays and national holidays like March 23.”
It said the decision was taken to ease the pressure of work on the vaccinators and health care “workers who are working tirelessly to serve the nation in this time of crisis.”
