Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that the PTI government is stable and will get the budget approved by the National Assembly because the Jahangir Tareen group will vote for it.

Talking to a news channel on Sunday night, Sheikh Rasheed denied the reports that the JKT group would not back the PTI and failure to get the budget approved will cause the fall of the government. The minister said he has “confirmed” information that the JKT group would favour the government.

He also rejected the rumours about a change in Islamabad and said “the government is stable, Imran Khan is not going anywhere.”

Sheikh Rasheed, however, claimed that the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), would fall apart as Shehbaz Sharif visited Islamabad thrice but did not meet Fazal-ur-Rehman, the chief of the alliance.

About PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif’s case, the interior minister said his name has been placed on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) and he is not on a blacklist.

His name has not been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) yet, he added.

The government will issue an official notification regarding its decision to put Shehbaz’ name on the ECL in a day or so, he said and added that he could challenge the notification in a court within 15 days.

He said that the government will file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court’s verdict to allow Shehbaz to go abroad for treatment.

Sheikh Rasheed said there are 15 accused in Shehbaz Sharif’s cases of which three are fugitives.
