The militant group IS has claimed responsibility for the attack on Pakistan embassy staffer in Afghan city Jalalabad.

It posted a message on its official website claiming the death of the staffer. Its message in Arabic reads: “With the success of God Almighty, the soldiers of the Khilafah targeted an employee of the Pakistani embassy, inside his vehicle in (Al-Nahiyah 4) in Jalalabad city yesterday, with a pistol, which led to his death.”

However, the Pakistan embassy in Kabul said all their staff are safe and did not elaborate whether the staffer escaped unscathed.

“Our Consul General in Jalalabad has confirmed that all of our staff members are safe,” the embassy said.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri stated that “our Consul General in Jalalabad has confirmed that all of our staff members are safe.”

Earlier on Friday, a Pakistan embassy staffer was attacked with a pistol by an unidentified man.

It was reported that the embassy staffer was inside his car when he was attacked.
