The Islamabad High Court (IHC) is hearing the case pertaining to the appointment of Chairman PTV Naeem Bukhari. The case was heard by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah. The officials of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting appeared before the court and were asked if the age limit had been relaxed to which they responded that it had been.

Justice Athar Minallah stated that the Ministry of Information was not authorized to appoint Naeem Bukhari as Chairman, adding that the Supreme Court had clearly delineated that the federal government was not allowed authorization to make anyone Chairman.

The Islamabad High Court has, thus, decided to bar Naeem Bukhari from working as PTV’s Chairman. The court has been adjourned until two weeks.

“Naeem Bukhari is respectable but not above the law,” said the IHC.

Previously, IHC Chief Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani had also removed PTV’s former Chairman from his post.
