The former chief minister and governor of Sindh, Mumtaz Bhutto, passed away on Sunday.

He was 88 years old, living at his residency in Karachi. Ibrahim Abro, his spokesperson, said that late Mumtaz Bhutto had been suffering from an illness for a while.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his condolences to Mumtaz Bhutto’s family.

Mumtaz Bhutto was born in Larkana, on November 28, 1993. He was a close aide of PPP founder Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and was amongst the founding members and principal executive committee members of the PPP.

In 1989, Mumtaz Bhutto split from PPP and created his party, Sindh National Front (SNF), which later merged with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) in 2017.

The spokesperson confirmed that Mumtaz Bhutto’s body would be moved to Larkana for the funeral.
