KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three accused involved in the Sugar Satta mafia, FIA sources said.
A series of raids were conducted by FIA Commercial Banks Circle (CBC) under the supervision of AD Fahad Khawaja. The action was taken on credible sources against the personnel who were involved in speculative pricing of sugar.
According to the sources, Dayal Das, Santosh Kumar and Rajkumar have been arrested who were found involved in Satta in the sugar market by using social media forums and fake bank accounts. The illicit acts of the arrested people were causing an undue hike in rates of sugar in the open market.
Two separate FIRs viz No 04/2021 and 05/2021 of FIA CBC Karachi u/s Anit Money Laundering Act were registered against the named accused and investigation is underway by Inspector Irshan Ul Kareem and Sub Inspector Zeeshan Shaikh. The accused will be produced for FIA custody remand in the court today
