The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Tuesday arrested two top-level National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) officers on charges of issuing fake identity cards (CNIC) to people.

Those arrested are; Assistant Director Hammad Hussain and Senior Executive Rizwan Khan. They have been accused of issuing fake CNICs to foreigners in return for money.

The investigation officer said that one Javed, who received the bogus CNIC, is on the run.

Hammad and Rizwan were produced before a court who remanded them into FIA’s custody for five days.

So far, FIA has arrested 16 people in five such cases. The suspects include NADRA officers, travel agents, and foreigners.
