Incidence of coronavirus in Pakistan seems to be slowing down as the country reported 5,830 new cases in the last 24 hours after 59,786 tests, showing positivity ratio at 9.75 percent, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data on Thursday morning.

A day ago, Pakistan reported 6,047 new coronavirus infections.

Moreover, 42 people succumbed to coronavirus during the past 24 hours, the highest daily death count in nearly four months – on October 7 the country reported 46 deaths.

The new deaths pushed the country’s death toll to 29,372. As many as 1,590 coronavirus patients are said to be in critical condition.

The confirmed active case count on Thursday was recorded at 100,072 –above the 100,000 since January 30.

The countrywide breakdown is as follows:

Sindh: 1,419 new cases, 9 deaths

Punjab: 1,463 cases, 16 deaths

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,589 cases, 14 deaths

Balochistan: 56 cases

Islamabad: 754 cases

Gilgit-Baltistan: 31cases, 1 death

Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 518 cases, 2 deaths

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s total recoveries from the coronavirus have reached 1,312,819 after 7,839 more people recovered from the disease, according to the government’s portal.
