Pakistan has reported a significant decline in coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, with the positivity ratio falling below 7 percent.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, Pakistan’s positivity ratio was 6.8 percent with 3,711 new cases of the virus on Sunday from 54,204 tests. 

The NCOC reported 68 deaths over the past 24 hours.

The last time Pakistan reported a low coronavirus positivity ratio was on July 27 when it was 6.6 percent.

Punjab has reported 1,006 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, down from 1,241 detected a day earlier, taking the provincial total to 371,605.

The province also confirmed 18 more fatalities due to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 11,347.

Meanwhile, a total of 731 cases were detected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 49 were confirmed in Balochistan. Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have collectively recorded 737 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours as well as four fatalities — Islamabad reported 444 cases and one death; GB has 88 new cases with one death and AJK 205 cases and two casualties.
