Ghandara Nissan, in a joint venture with China’s Chery Group, plans to launch latest passenger cars in Pakistan.
Muazzam Pervaiz Khan, Chief Operating Officer of Ghandhara Nissan Ltd., along with his team visited, Board of Investment (BOI) to present Business Plan of Brownfield Investment of Rs2.4 billion to BOI Secretary Fareena Mazhar.
The line-up includes various types of passenger cars, ranging from hatchbacks to sedans, crossovers to SUVs and electric vehicles. In line with the government initiative to implement Electric Vehicle Policy, the company will introduce its lineup of electric vehicles in Pakistan in the next two to three years.
The Chery Group is a leading brand of Chinese auto industry. The company has established a complete research and development system with more than 11,000 patents and 3,200 dedicated researchers. Chery has over 2,600 pilot projects with 23 professional modules covering vehicle and component reliability, handling stability, NVH, safety and environmental adaptability, emissions, materials and other properties of test development and verification capabilities.
BOI Secretary Fareena Mazhar appreciated the planned product line which will provide value for money and offer top of the line safety features to Pakistani consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the venture will create employment opportunities. She informed the team about various measures taken by the Pakistan government to ensure a conducive environment for business, including incentives proposed in the upcoming Electric Vehicle Policy
She assured of BOI’s facilitation as and when needed for successful execution of the venture.
Ghandhara Nissan is a well-known Karachi-based truck and bus manufacturer. The company assembles and manufactures Isuzu vehicles in Pakistan.
Ghandhara Nissan would manufacture Chery SUVs in Pakistan. The Chinese automaker has a range of luxury SUVs, with Tiggo 8 being the most anticipated to enter the Pakistani auto market.
