Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior and Accountability Shahzad Akbar has announced that the details of Broadsheet issue will be made public on directive of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said that accountability is not possible without transparency.

He said the premier has given instructions in this regard. Lawyers representing Pakistan have contacted Broadsheet to seek its permission to make the judgement of the arbitration court given in 2016 public, he added.

The firm has agreed to give a copy to Pakistan, he continued.

Shahzad said the National Accountability Bureau and Broadsheet had signed an agreement in June 2000, which was breached by Pakistan in October 2003.

Services of Broadsheet LLC were hired to find the ill gotten money of 200 Pakistanis, including former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Benazir Bhtto and Asif Ali Zardari, stashed abroad by the NAB during Pervez Musharraf rule.

The NAB paid $1.5 million after a settlement on 20 May, 2008. An appeal was lodged in July 2019 but the verdict came in Broadsheet’s favor.
