Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti has said that the ruling party BJP is using threats and sticks to silence the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In an interview to a media channel in Haveli area of pooch district in Jammu region, the last Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir as a State said that the BJP is doing everything to disempower the public of the handful of rights left with them after the abrogation of Article 370 and the revocation of the special status of the state of Kashmir in August 2019.
Mufti said, “People are troubled everywhere, whether it is Jammu or Kashmir… all the matters are run by the power of stick.”
She emphasized her point with the example that boys who came for a protest which she led were asked to sign a bond that they would not protest again.
When asked about her position on the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, she said that Elections were not her immediate objective but polls are a democratic weapon to fight for the rights of the people and address their problems. She added that they would come out with a decision regarding the polls when polls would be announced in Jammu and Kashmir.
