Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Barrister Maleeka Bokhari, Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice, has been named the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leader for five years.

Each year, the World Economic Forum selects a number of Young Global Leaders, which is “a group of remarkable people under 40 come from different communities and industries worldwide.”

Others among the 2021 batch include Indian actor Deepika Padukone, 64th Lieutenant Governor of Michigan Garlin Gilchrist II, Australian singer Jessica Mauboy, and Irish writer, academic and disability activist Sinéad Burke.

Sharing the news on her Twitter account, Maleeka Bokhari said she is “delighted to be honoured as the Young Global Leader for 2021.”

The official Twitter account of the PTI shared the news, adding: “Our women of PTI making us proud everyday. #PakistanMovingForward.”

Maleeka Bokhari is a Barrister and a parliamentarian from the ruling PTI.  She currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Law and Justice, and is responsible for the legislative business in the Parliament.

She is also in the process of drafting various pieces of legislation with Federal Minister for Law and Justice Dr Barrister Farogh Naseem.

Her career in the legal field spans over ten years, which he began after she completing her Bar at Law in the United Kingdom.

She is the only Pakistani to have made the list for World Economic Forum’s Global Young Leaders for 2021.
