The famous dress that Amy Winehouse wore for her last performance has been sold for $243,200. The dress was auctioned in California as a part of trove of memorabilia from the late singer’s life.

Earlier on Sunday the bamboo print dress was sold for a price that was 16 times more of its estimated value. Winehouse was seen wearing that dress on her final concert in Belgrade in 2011. Just a month later, on July 23, Winehouse was found dead from acute alcohol poisoning at 27.

Among a variety of personal items that Winehouse’s parents put on auction, her last dress received the most attention. Another item that remained in the limelight was a heart-shaped-customized handbag designed by Moschino. Winehouse sported the bag at the 2007 Brit Awards. The bag ended up being sold for $204,800. Many of the other dresses the singer donned in her performances were fetched between $12,500 and $150,000.

The entire collection fetched $4 million, twice the estimated amount. The amount gained from the auction will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which supports vulnerable young adults who are struggling with alcohol addiction.

Multi-Grammy-winning Winehouse, whose 2006 album “Back to Black” is recognized as a modern classic, was quite vocal about her personal experiences regarding alcohol and drug addiction.

The 400-plus-page catalogue put together at the auction was a walk-through of the singer’s journey. The auction also nodded at the singer’s distinctive retro style that made her a fashion icon.
