Maulana Fazalur Rehman has sought clarification from the army that it is neutral. There is an undeclared martial law in the country and people have to march towards Rawalpindi instead of Islamabad.
The head of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) and 11-party opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Maulana Fazalur Rehman was addressing a rally in Malakand on Monday.
The Maulana said amry is national institution and defender of the country. He respects the institution. But if it is favouring Imran Khan, it is his right to stage protest outside the GHQ in Rawlapindi, he added.
“It is not fair that they eat Pappa John’s pizzas and offer just tea to us,” he said in a lighter vein.
He said the PTI had stolen the public mandate and the people would snatch their rights.
About the PDM protest, the JUI-F chief said it will sweep the government as the nation is united against it.
He accused the government of destroying the economy. It has destroyed the economy like metro bus project BRT, he continued.
He said the government raised the prices of medicines by 400 percent.
The Maulana claimed that the PDM was striving for the rights of the masses.
He announced that the PDM will hold a rally in front of Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad on January 19 and anti-Israel rally in Karachi on January 21.
Speaking to the rally, People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the alliance will remove a puppet regime and restore democracy to the country.
He said PDM would continue struggle till the ouster of the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) government. The PPP had faced dictators in the past bravely, he added.
He claimed that every resident of Malakand demanded the selected government to step down.
Bilawal said the present government has raised prices of electricity, gas and petrol manifold. It had failed to create 10 million jobs and construct five million houses. They were mere slogans to deceive the people, he maintained.
Pakhtunkhwa Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is being used to suppress political dissent.
The main aim of the PDM is not to remove Imran, but to restore the respect to vote, he added.
The Awami National Party (ANP) leaders Ameer Haider Hoti, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial head Amir Muqam and others also spoke on the occasion.
