A more transmissible and dangerous Mu variant of Covid-19 has spread in more than forty countries.

The new variant was first found in Hawaii and Alaska. It has spread to almost 49 states with the exception of Nebraska which is the only state where the Mu variant is not detected yet, according to Newsweek. The Health officials believe that this new variant is more dangerous and contagious.

Dr. Barbara Ferrer, The Director of LA Public Health in a statement warned the LA County residents that they should take measures against the new Mu variant ‘to protect themselves and others.’
He added, “This is what makes getting vaccinated and layering protections so important. These are actions that break the chain of transmission and limit Covid-19 proliferation that allows for the virus to mutate into something that could be more dangerous.”

The World Health Organisation in a statement declared the new variant to be the most dangerous of all the strains of Covid-19.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases urged the health officials to maintain a close eye on the MU variant because it is more threatening and dominant than other strains. “Even though it has not in essence taken hold to any extent here we always pay attention to at all times variants,” Fauci said.

The US observed a peak of the deadly variant in mid-July but the cases are declining since then but the threat of the new variant is still relevant and disturbing.
