Three people injured when a parked camper van exploded in the U.S. city of Nashville, Tennessee, on Christmas morning. Police suspected that there could be casualty as some possible human body remains were found nearby.

Police believe the blast was caused deliberately. According to media, police responded to reports of firing and found a camper van broadcasting a warning message asking people to leave the area. The van exploded a few minutes later.

A police officer lost his feet by the force of the blast, officials said. The van blew up outside the building of telecoms giant AT&T, causing knock out of communication in the state. Nearby buildings were also damaged, windows were blown out, and trees felled. Videos posted on social media showed water from damaged pipes running down walls as alarms howled in the background.

Police emergency systems were also knocked out. Flights from Nashville were briefly halted as a result of damage done by the blast but have now resumed.

Police have released an image of the van – described by Nashville police as a recreational vehicle – arriving at the scene early on Friday.
