President Biden’s special envoy for North Korea Sung Kim (pictured above) told reporters that the United States has no hostile intent towards North Korea

The United States has taken notice of North Korea’s nuclear reactor resuming and seeks to address the issue with Pyongyang.

The news of the country resuming nuclear operations came via the International Atomic Energy Agency’s annual report, which described the situation as “deeply troubling” and a violation of UN resolutions.

A senior US administration official speaking anonymously said, “This report underscores the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy so we can achieve the complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.”

“We continue to seek dialogue with the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) so we can address this reported activity and the full range of issues related to denuclearization.”

The official added that the US is working closely with allies and partners on developments in the hermit kingdom.

The report came as President Biden’s special envoy for North Korea Sung Kim visits South Korea.

Kim told reporters in Seoul that the United States has no hostile intent toward North Korea and is open to meeting any time and any place.

Biden’s administration has said it will explore diplomacy to achieve North Korean denuclearization but has shown no willingness to ease sanctions.
