Three policemen were killed by unidentified gunmen in Paktia province on Tuesday morning, provincial police spokesman Mohammad Lal Amiri said.

The incident happened around 9am local time at the district 4 police headquarters in Gardez city, Amiri said.

“An employee, a chef and a driver were the victims of the attack,” he said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police.

However, no group, including the Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, on Monday, nine security force members were killed and four others were wounded in three incidents in Helmand, Kandahar and Kapisa province.
