Israeli Regional Cooperation Minister Ofir Akunis said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are not among the two Muslim countries which will establish ties with Israel.

Talking to an Israeli television, Ynet TV, Ofir Akunis said Israel is working on to establish friendship with two more countries before the departure of US President Donald Trump from the White House.

“There will be an American announcement about another country that is going public with the normalisation of relations with Israel and, in essence, with the infrastructure for an accord – a peace accord,” Israeli newspaper Haaratz quoted Ofir Akunis.

He said there were two main candidates. One is in the Gulf, he said, giving Oman as a possibility while adding that Saudi Arabia is not.

According to Haaretz, the Israeli minister said other candidate, further to the east, is a “Muslim country that is not small” but is not Pakistan.

Bangladesh and Indonesia are being considered two countries which can join Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Trump’s drive for making friends in the Muslim block, although both have previously released statements saying ties with Israel are dependent on the solution to the Palestinian crisis.
