The Uttar Pradesh Police has booked All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief, Asaduddin Owaisi for alleged vitiation of communal harmony, violation of Covid norms, and indecent comment against Indian Premier Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

An FIR against the AIMIM leader was registered on Thursday at Barabanki city police station after his party rallied as they had planned to contest 100 seats in the upcoming elections.

Police Superintendent of Barabanki Yamuna Prasad said that the Hyderabad MP breached the Covid protocols of social distancing by arranging huge crowds at the rally at Katra Chandana on Thursday.

The SP said, “In his speech, the AIMIM chief made statements for vitiating communal harmony and said the 100-year-old Ram Sanehi Ghat mosque was razed by the administration and its debris was also removed. This is contrary to the fact,”

The Superintendent added that by his statement he had incited hatred for a particular community and vitiated the communal harmony adding that he also had made “ indecent and baseless remarks against the PM and the Uttar Pradesh chief minister,”

On Thursday Owaisi had said that there have been efforts to turn the country into a “Hindu Rashtra” since Narendra Modi came to power seven years back.
