Five government employees were killed in two incidents in Afghan capital Kabul on Tuesday.

Four employees, including head, of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, were killed in an attack on their vehicle in the morning.

The ministry confirmed in a press release that Reyaz Ahmad Khalil, head of the Maidan Wardak Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department, director of social services Habibaullah, Engineer Farid and their driver were killed in the attack.

Kabul police said in a statement that the incident took place at around 9.20am in the Bagh-e-Dawood area of ​​Kabul’s fifth district when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their car. They were killed on the spot.

Elsewhere in Kabul, a magnate bomb attached to a car exploded, killing another government employee. According to the foreign ministry, it was their car and one of the drivers was killed in the attack in the Macrorayan neighborhood.

Meanwhile, President Ashraf Ghani strongly condemned the attack and accused the Taliban of stalling peace talks by once again escalating the violence.

Violence in Afghanistan has upsurged recently despite intra-Afghan talks for peace going on in Qatar capital Doha. Afghan government blame Taliban for escalation of violence, a charge they deny.
