The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) Director General, Lieutenant General Faiz Hamid, was called on by The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), William Joseph, said the media wing of the military on Thursday.

The CIA director visited the region for the second time.

It was reported earlier that Burns met in Kabul with Taliban co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar secretly and matters of regional and current security situations in Afghanistan were discussed.

In the meeting today, it was said that Pakistan is committed to cooperating with its international partners for regional peace and for a stable and prosperous future of Afghanistan.

ISPR said that the CIA chief praised Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in successful evacuation from Kabul.

The US officials also assured that they would play a role to advance diplomatic relations with Pakistan.

In an earlier statement regarding the matter of Afghanistan Pakistan has persuaded the world to dispose of the “old lenses” and work with a “realistic and pragmatic” approach on Afghanistan.
