The local administration has imposed smart lockdown in 19 areas of Rawalpindi. This decision comes after a rapid increase in the COVID-19 cases in the province. The lockdown will continue till December 21. The areas under lockdown include

Dhoke Najju, Khayaban-i-Sir Syed Sector 3, Waris Khan, Eidgah Mohallah Asghar Mall and Chaklala Scheme-3 were sealed while streets in different areas had been closed including streets 3 and 4 in Gulistan Colony, Street 16 in Asif Colony Qasimabad, streets in Pindora, Street 12 in Daryabad Gawalmandi, streets 11 and 16 in Gulraiz Housing Scheme Phase 2, Street No. 17 Airport Housing Scheme, Seventh Road near Bilal Masjid and Satellite Town.

Some houses were sealed in Shamsabad Madina Town, Westridge-II, Gulshanabad Adiala, Muslim Town and Rahim Town Shakrial. Three areas in Brahma Taxila, Dupri Kahuta Village and Street 18 of Ward 19 in Gujar Khan.

In the last 24 hours, 3,138 people tested positive for COVID-19 while 56 lost their lives according to the latest statistics released by the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC).

As of December 9, the total active cases in Pakistan are 46,376. Yesterday, 40,202 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 12,582; Punjab: 15,405; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 4,690; Islamabad: 5,888; Gilgit Baltistan: 412; Balochistan: 527 and Azad Kashmir and Azad Kashmir: 698

Out of 1756 vents allocated for COVID-19 in the country, 357 vents are currently occupied. Out of 56 deaths on Wednesday, 36 were on ventilators. There is no patient on the vent in Balochistan and GB.

A total of 429,280 cases detected so far (AJK 7517, Balochistan 17604, GB 4765, ICT 33695, KP 50762, Punjab 125250, Sindh 189687)

Till now, Pakistan has conducted 5,906,146 tests. Currently, 3,170 patients are being treated in 616 COVID-19 facilities in the country.

Pakistan has recorded 8,603 deaths thus far due to this deadly virus.
