Ghani resigns, flees kabul as Taliban conquer Afghanistan

Kabul: Sources inform that the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has resigned and fled the country. A report told Al-Jazeera that the President was headed for Tajikistan.

The President’s office refused to comment on Ashraf Ghani’s movement for security reasons, when inquired by Reuters.

The Taliban entered Kabul on Sunday, and demanded a complete and peaceful surrender from the Afghan government. Pressurizing President Ghani to resign.

The Afghan government’s negotiation team palns to leave for Qatar soon. As the Taliban enter Kabul from all sides with explicit orders from their leadership to not engage in violence.

With the fall of Kabul, Taliban will have complete conquer Afghanistan. With most of the provincial capitals, cities and border posts already under their control.
