On Sunday, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said that Pakistan has no issues with India hosting the T20 World Cup but will need written assurance from India regarding the visas.

Mani said this on Sunday, while briefing about the issues that came under discussion in PCB’s governing body meeting. PCB’s CEO Wasim Khan and Director High Performance Nadeem Khan were also present at the press conference.

“Well, the BCCI was supposed to come up with a clear confirmation by December 31. Let me make it very clear that we have got nothing against the event being held in India, but we have to be absolutely sure that our players, support staff, fans, and the journalists should get the necessary visas.”

“We have told the ICC that India should give written assurances by the end of March so that we know where we stand or we will push for the relocation of the World Cup from India to UAE,” he added.

He further said that if the COVID-19 situation worsens in India then the option of moving the event to the United Arab Emirates is already on the table.

The cricketing relations between both countries have been volatile for more than a decade now with both teams only playing each other in the ICC event.

In 2016, Pakistan team were issued visas for the T20 World Cup in India but the gropu stage game between the both sides originally to be played in Dharamsala was moved to Eden Gardens Kolkata due to security reasons.
