The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited the Afghanistan national team for a full tour. This development comes after Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official visit to Kabul last week.

The PCB’s CEO, Wasim Khan said, “We’ll try to look for a possible window for this tour, and if not 2021, we’ll definitely try to plan a series in 2022 season.”

Afghan national team has toured Pakistan in 2011 but the matches weren’t given the first-class status. It is a known fact that most of the players representing Afghanistan have learned their skills while playing in Peshawar and tribal areas of Pakistan.

Afghanistan is usually considered to be in the world’s cricket second tier and mostly play their bilateral series against teams like Netherlands, Scotland and Ireland. But in the recent past, they have shown great fight and courage against the test teams.

This tour will provide their players to further enhance their skills and temperament.

“A strong Afghanistan means a strong Asian block, so Pakistan will continue to play its part and help Afghan cricket,” said Wasim.

As part of the World Cup 2023 Super League, Afghanistan is due to play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan in September 2021. Series will probably be played in the United Arab Emirates.
