Sunday, Pakistan Railway Authorities informed that furnace oil worth almost Rs5-6 million spilt from a cargo train near Nawabshah.

According to the authorities the joints of the train opened, causing the oil to spill. The train was carrying thousands of litres of oil and was completely drained after three hours of continous leakage.

The train driver, his assistant and station staff tried to stop the flow of oil but failed. A technical team has been called in to investigate the causes of the spill.

Currently the area surrounding the oil spill has been locked down, the people are being kept away due to the danger of fire, as per the police.

Similarly, the Business recorder reported on Saturday, that an oil tanker turned upside down near Okara, spilling 50,000 litres of oil. The accident had occurred because the driver had allegedly dozed off. Rescue 1122 arrived to provide aid to the driver and any casualities were avoided.
