Prime Minister Imran Khan will announce a developmental package for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) that amounts to Rs275 billion to uplift the tourism industry in the region, build infrastructure and create job opportunities in the remote region.

The prime minister will visit Gilgit-Baltistan on April 12, after his trip scheduled for April 5 was postponed due to inclement weather. He will be accompanied by Planning Minister Asad Umar, GB and Kashmir Affairs Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and IT Minister Amin-ul-Haq.

He will be announcing initiatives related to clean energy and hydropower in the region. The government’s health card program will also be announced for Gilgit-Baltistan.

The premier will attend the main function at the chief minister’s secretariat and attend meetings with Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet members among other officials.
