Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting to review the ML-1 project, which will be carried out under the ambit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). 

The meeting was attended by Minister for Railways Azam Khan Swati, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Chairman CPEC Authority Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Secretary Railways, Economic Affairs, Finance, Planning Division and senior officers.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the detailed briefing on the ML-1 project and current progress. 

The Prime Minister termed the CPEC ML-1 project as an excellent example of Pak-China friendship and said that this project would establish a modern communication infrastructure of international standard in Pakistan. The ML-1 project will develop domestic industry and create jobs.

The Prime Minister said that by linking the ports to inland urban centres under this project, Pakistan’s exports would be able to reach the world markets in a timely manner which would generate valuable foreign exchange.

The Prime Minister said that ML-1 is one of the most costly projects in the CPEC which will add a new chapter to the Pak-China relations.

 The Federal Minister of Railways briefed the Prime Minister on the integration plan of ML-1 project by Pakistan Railways.
