KARACHI: The meeting of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of Pakistan Peoples Party is underway in Karachi to discuss its response to the show-cause notice sent to it by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is presiding over the meeting, which has been convened to devise its future line of action in the wake of the party’s possible and formal exit from the opposition alliance.

The PPP’s CEC was earlier scheduled to meet on April 5 on one-point agenda to discuss the proposal of nine PDM component parties regarding en masse resignations from the assemblies.

PPP’s information secretary and MNA Shazia Marri, while speaking to the media, said that it was wrong to blame the PPP for taking unilateral decisions unlike the JUI-F and the PML-N, saying during the recent Senate elections, all candidates from Punjab returned unopposed as the PML-N made an understanding with the PTI. “No one took us or even the PDM into confidence over it.”
